PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screening method suitable for an actual situation of an active ingredient for light aging, etc., in vitro in a skin preparation for external use. SOLUTION: This method for discriminating the active ingredient of skin preparation for external use comprises culturing a damaged skin constituent cell together with collagen (1) in the presence of a medicine and (2) in the absence of the medicine, measuring the ratio of formation degree of fiber bundle of collagen under the two conditions, using the ratio as an index and discriminating the efficacy of active ingredient of skin preparation for external use.
