PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional height sensor of a vegetable harvester comprising the incorrect detection value caused by the installation of the height sensor at the back of the starting end (vegetable digging position) of a clamping belt behind the stalk raising apparatus and the detection of the ground height by contacting the sensor with irregular soil face after the digging of the vegetable. SOLUTION: The object vegetable harvester is provided with a harvesting and transporting apparatus 3 composed of a pair of right and left clamping belts 2, 2' for digging and harvesting vegetables and positioned at the back of a stalk raising apparatus 1. The ground height of the starting end of the harvesting and transporting apparatus 3 is controlled based on the detection result of a height sensor 4. The height sensor 4 detects the ground height at a position in front of the raising starting part of the stalk raising apparatus 1.
