PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high speed high image quality printing by performing sub- scanning through means for storing the feeding amount of sub-scanning set under specified conditions and the position of a pixel formed by main scanning as control parameters, a nozzle drive means of specified interval, and a feeding amount thereby enhancing the image quality at the time of bidirctional recording. SOLUTION: A printer PRT receives print data and print mode for specifying on/off of dot for each pixel and color from a computer PC at an input section 91 and stores them in a buffer 92. A main scanning section 93 forms dots on a sheet through main scanning for reciprocating a head provided with nozzles at an interval of 2 rasters or more in the sub-scanning direction for each color, and a sub-scanning section 94 drives the sheet in the intersecting direction every time when the operation is finished. When dots are recorded within a specified gradation range of dot forming pixel, feeding amount of sub-scanning set to satisfy locally standardized conditions in both main scanning directions and the position of a pixel to be formed by main scanning are stored as control parameters in a control parameter tables 97.
