PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with making large size, high quality, and mass production of a back plate and a front plate for a plasma display panel(PDP) by almost stopping a treating board within a cooling part and spraying cooling air onto one side or both sides of the board, so that temperature distribution becomes almost successively higher from the center of the treating board toward the outside to cool the treating board. SOLUTION: A back plate (a treatment board) 170 for a PDP provided with a working material made of low melting point glass paste for forming a barrier rib is placed on a setter 180, and conveyed almost horizontally in intermittent operation, in a baking furnace for baking the working material. A conveying part is operated intermittently, the treating board 170 is stopped at a prescribed position for a prescribed time in a cooling part 114, and cooking air is sprayed to both sides of the treating board, so that temperature distribution becomes almost successively higher from the center of the treating board toward the outside with blowers 161, 162.
