PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the light emitting efficiency of a semiconductor light emitting device. SOLUTION: A semiconductor light emitting device 1 is provided with a pair of wiring conductors 2 and 3, a semiconductor light emitting element 4 having a plurality of electrodes 5 and 6 respectively electrically connected to the conductors 2 and 3, and an internal light transmitting layer 10 which covers at least part of the light emitting section of the element 4. The device 1 is also provided with an external light transmitting layer 11 which covers the end sections of the conductors 2 and 3 and the internal light transmitting layer 10. Since the refractive index of the internal light emitting layer 10 is higher than that of the external light emitting layer 11, the light emitting efficiency of the light emitting device 1 becomes higher. |
