PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display element without generating air bubbles inside a seal and improving appearance and reliability of the product and a production yield. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display element comprising sticking together the upper and lower substrates 1, 2, which have a segment electrode 3 and a common electrode 4 formed on the inside surfaces and on which alignment marks are displayed, via a thermosetting sealant 7, the one and the other out of the upper and lower substrates 1, 2 are adsorbed on the upper and the lower side suction tables 10, 11 respectively. One out of the both suction tables 10, 11 is moved to hold the upper and the lower substrates 1, 2 leaving a fine gap in between, and their positioning is carried out taking the alignment marks as reference. Subsequently as the first pressurizing step, a substrate set A is formed by overlapping the upper and the lower substrates 1, 2 with slight pressure by air pressurizing and as the main pressurizing step, the substrate set A is held between pressurizing plates via buffer sheets and pressurized with main pressure and seal-baked.
