PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording head which can discharge ink drops of a small volume capable of realizing a desired image quality at a normal printing time onto recording papers without any gap between dots and can discharge large ink drops capable of obtaining a sufficient density even by thinned printing at a high-speed printing time. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording head has two ink supply ports 26 for introducing ink from an ink tank, an ink chamber 24 for temporarily holding the ink introduced from the ink supply ports 26, and sets of two kinds of ink channels each consisting of a first ink channel 30 of a constant discharge amount which discharges ink drops of 7 pl and a second ink channel 32 of a variable discharge volume which selects and discharges either of small volume ink drops of 7 pl and large volume ink drops of 30 pl. The set of the channels 30, 32 are alternately formed in a channel substrate 20. In a normal printing mode, ink drops of 7 pl are discharged from the first and second ink channels. In a high-speed printing mode, ink drops of 30 pl are discharged only from the second ink channels 32. |
