PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve productivity among applications in an image forming device which has a plurality of applications. SOLUTION: When memory input (inputting processing of, for example, image data which are compressed for electronic sorting) or expanding output (the expanding process performed at outputting of elongated image data) using the temporary area of a memory is requested from one application, the system control layer of a digital copying machine discriminates whether the temporary area used for the requested process exists in a memory as a Vacant area. When the temporary area does not exist in the memory, the control layer discriminates whether a temporary area for electronic sorting exists in the already used temporary area of the memory. When the temporary area exists, the control layer discriminates whether the requested processing can be executed by using the temporary area. If the control layer discriminates that the processing can be executed by using the temporary area, the layer executes that processing.
