PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary air supply system that can be accommodated in a small space of a transversal type engine, which exhibits excellent purifying efficiency. SOLUTION: In this system, a valve chamber 13 covered with a valve cover 12 is formed by providing a recess portion 9 on the top surface of the cylinder head 3 connected to the top surface of a transversal cylinder 2 such that an exhaust hole 4 of the cylinder head 3 is communicated with the valve chamber 13 via a communication hole 14. An inlet cylinder 15 of the valve cover 12 is directed to face an air cleaner 7 that can be connected to the inlet cylinder 15 with a hose 16.
