<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a scene change correctly and to detect a frame scene change and a field scene change by discriminating them concerning a picture processing device and a scene change detecting method, by which the scene change of an animation is detected. SOLUTION: A picture processor is provided with a memory 4 for delaying a digitized input picture signal by one frame, a first picture correlation arithmetic part 1 for cumulatively calculating the absolute value of a difference corresponding to pixels between the input picture signal of the present frame and the picture signal of a preceding frame read from the memory 4 and for outputting a first picture correlation value, a second picture correlation arithmetic part 2 for obtaining the difference between the frames of the first picture correlation value and for outputting it as the second picture correlation value and a comparing part 3 for comparing the second picture correlation value with a first threshold Th1 and for outputting a scene change detecting signal when the value exceeds the first threshold Th1. Besides, the second picture correlation value is compared with the second threshold when scene change is detected so that the frame scene change and the field scene change are detected by discrimination.</p> |
