PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape driving device capable of reducing the power consumption of a whole device. SOLUTION: The power source voltage supplying to a capstan motor 5 is allowed to changeover in such a manner that a changeover SW 3 is provided for selecting any output of a 1st motor driving power source 1 or a 2nd motor driving power source 2 in accordance with the objective number of rotation of the capstan motor 5 by a speed setting means 6 and supplying it to the capstan driving circuit 4, then the power consumption of the whole device is reduced.
