New bicyclic and heterobicyclic substituted N-cyanoamidine derivatives are claimed. The bicyclic and heterobicyclic substituted N-cyanoamidine derivatives are of formula (I). R<1> = H or alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, aryl or aralkyl (each optionally substituted); R<2> = benz-, pyrido- or thieno-fused cycloalk(en)yl, oxacycloalk(en)yl or thiacycloalk(en)yl (each optionally substituted). An Independent claim is also included for the preparation of (I).
