PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold lubricating oil on a sliding surface for an extended term, and to prevent generation of whirling abnormal sounds in the shaft, in the case of starting in a porous oil-retaining bearing having lubricating oil on the inside and a motor using the bearing. SOLUTION: The inner circumferential surface of an oil-retaining bearing is composed of a central bearing section 31 which is in parallel with a shaft and end-section bearing sections 32a, 32b in which inner circumferential surfaces are widened gradually toward one end sides at both ends, and nonporous surfaces are formed only near the boundary sections of the central bearing section 31 and the end-section bearing sections 32a, 32b. Accordingly, even when vibrations by which the shaft is inclined are generated, the surfaces of the boundary sections are infiltrated in lubricating oil, without the lubricating oil permeate into the inside at all times, so that the generation of vibrations can be prevented.
