Coating composition comprises: (a) a complex of polyelectrolyte ions and fluorosurfactant counterions; and (b) a crosslinker capable of reacting with reactive centers of the polyelectrolyte ions. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a two-component coating product in which one component comprises a complex of polyelectrolyte ions and fluorosurfactant counterions and the other component comprises a crosslinker capable of reacting with reactive centers of the polyelectrolyte ions; (2) a two-component coating product in which one component comprises a complex of polyelectrolyte ions and fluorosurfactant counterions and the other component comprises a crosslinker capable of reacting with reactive centers of the polyelectrolyte ions and the other component comprises an organic material capable of reacting with the crosslinker; (3) a two-component coating product in which one component comprises a complex of polyelectrolyte ions and fluorosurfactant counterions and an organic material with reactive centers and the other component comprises a crosslinker capable of reacting with reactive centers of the polyelectrolyte ions and the organic material; (4) a three-component coating product in which the first component comprises a complex of polyelectrolyte ions and fluorosurfactant counterions, the second component comprises an organic material with reactive centers and the third component comprises a crosslinker capable of reacting with reactive centers of the polyelectrolyte ions and the organic material.
