摘要 PURPOSE: A high speed motion estimation method using an adaptive matching scan algorithm based on an image complexity is provided to increase the speed of the motion estimation. CONSTITUTION: A high speed motion estimation method using an adaptive matching scan algorithm based on an image complexity includes following steps. According to the present invention, the motion vector is estimated by detecting a matching block in a candidate blocks in a search window(SRW) of a previous frame(f(t-1)) by performing full region search process between candidate blocks in the search window and a reference block in current frame(f(t)). At the first step, the complexity of a reference block in a current frame is calculated, and a matching scan direction is determined(71). At the second step, the motion is estimated by performing a matching scan in a determined matching scan direction(73).
