Low temperature conservation of foodstuffs in enclosure with liquid carbon dioxide

The foodstuffs are housed in an insulated enclosure (1) for storage and transport. The enclosure has across the top of its interior a box (2) storing carbonic acid snow. This box has a lateral opening into which liquid carbon dioxide can be injected. The liquid carbon dioxide is injected under pressure by a distribution unit (10) connected to a storage tank (6). - The distributor has a solenoid valve (18) under control of a control unit (19). The control unit has a timer permitting selection of the duration of the injection of liquid carbon dioxide into the storage to form a measured reserve of carbonic acid snow.
