<p>A system and method for initiating a computer initiated voice call includes a user computer with an installed communications application connected to an Enhancement Server, capable of establishing a voice connection between the user computer and a destination device. A user activates a voice enabling button on a web page, uses a URL, or otherwise requests a web-page containing a voice enabling script. The voice enabling script sends a connection request to the Enhancement Server, which returns a MIME data transmission to the user computer. The user computer passes the connection order to the communications application, which decodes the data and initiates a call. The Enhancement Server receives the call initiation and checks predetermined routing preferences, to determine an appropriate destination. After matching the routing preferences with user identification information and/or other variables, the Enhancement Server establishes a voice connection between the user computer and a destination device in a permitted manner.</p> |
