PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce an organosilicon compound capable of being cross-linked and useful for formation or the like of an optically anisotropic layer in high purity and high yield by reacting each specific organosilicon compound with olefinic unsaturated compound, and removing a prescribed group. SOLUTION: (H) An organosilicon compound having hydrogen atom directly bonded to the silicon is reacted with (U) an olefinic unsaturated compound represented by formula I (Ωis a monovalent organic group having a terminal double bond or triple bond; R is H or methyl; and Z is Cl, I, Br or 4- methyltoluenesulfonyl), and having a double bond or a triple bond in the presence of a metal or a compound of the platinum group as a catalyst to provide (E) an organosilicon compound represented by formula II (A is a divalent organic group), and H-Z is removed from the obtained organosilicon compound E to provide (P) the objective organosilicon compound represented by formula III and having anα,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid group.
