PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain heat-adhesive fibers suitable for cushioning materials, etc., having resistance to loss of resilience due to high temperature exhausting property and comfortableness by exposing an aliphatic polyester having a prescribed range of melting points at a part of the surface of fibers. SOLUTION: This heat-adhesive fiber is composed of an aliphatic polyester such as a polyester comprising L-lactic acid having 130-200 deg.C melting point as a main component and exposed on at least a part of the fiber surface and has <=40% dry heat shrinkage and <=330 mg shrinking force. Preferably, the heat-adhesive fiber is a core-sheath type composite fiber using an aliphatic polyester as the sheath component and having a multifoliate shape having more than three-foliate cross section and a matrix fiber of polyethylene terephthalate, etc., having more than 75 deg.C glass transition point is point joined by a heat- adhesive fiber to produce the objective cushioning material having more than 70% resistance to loss of resilience at 70 deg.C.
