METHOD FOR TREATING WASTEWATER USING ELECTRIC BEAM

PURPOSE: A treating method for removing colouring substance in wastewater from paper manufacturing is provided, which is characterized in that electric beam is irradiated so that ink component is removed. CONSTITUTION: To remove ink component, deinking process is necessary. Wastewater from this deinking process is mixed with water and reused. So, a generator of electric beam is installed to remove the colouring substances. Ink components in wastewater react with the electric beam, and preliminary treatment is needed. Wastewater is adjusted at pH 4 - 7.5, and methyl alcohol is added to remove OH radical, which is concerned with oxidation of organic matter, among the various radicals generated by irradiation of electric beam. The amount of methyl alcohol is 200 - 400ppm desirably, and pH is 5 - 6.
