PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a control amount to a proper value by correcting the control amount corresponding to a set value which is set in accordance with an operation state by the difference between an actual value of an EGR amount and the design median of an EGR valve even when an EGR amount corresponding to a control amount changes with dispersion on production and use. SOLUTION: During operation of an engine 2, in an EGR control device 90, an actual EGR amount is measured using a change amount of an engine load on ON/OFF control of an EGR valve 92, and corrected to a standard atmospheric pressure state. Subsequently, the difference between a post- correction EGR amount and the design median of the EGR valve 92 is corrected in accordance with the number of measurements of an EGR amount to find an EGR departure amount, and an EGR change rate in a reference air amount is found from the EGR departure amount. Then, at least one of the EGR departure amount or the EGR change rate is stored, and a control amount is corrected by the EGR change rate. The actuation of the EGR valve 92 is controlled by a post-correction control amount obtained by this correction, and an EGR control amount is controlled so as to become a proper value.
