PURPOSE: A device for recovering address in a common memory buffer typed ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switch is provided to check the address in the ATM switch itself and to return the address, after the multicast cells are output in the ATM switch all told. CONSTITUTION: A device for recovering address in a common memory buffer typed ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switch includes a cell detector(200), a cell check memory(210), an error detector(220), an error check memory(130), an address return unit(140), and an error return unit(160). The cell detector(200) detects whether the inputted cell is an unicast cell or the multicast cell and writes the result to the cell check memory(210). The cell check memory(210) is wrote the different data according to the detected result. The address return unit(140) reads a value of the cell check memory(210) and returns the address to the IAP(150) when the value is '0'. The error check memory(130) stores the result checking the error of address storing cell. The error return unit(160) regards the corresponding address as the error when a value of the error check memory(130) is '0', regenerates the address after the constant time has passed and return the address to the IAP(150).
