PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a soft polyester woven or knitted fabric having both a high anti-pilling performance and a practical stretch performance and excellent in an easy care property. SOLUTION: This anti-pilling stretch woven or knitted fabric having a stretch rate of >=8% consists mainly of the following sheath-core conjugate yarns. The core portions (15-60 wt.% based on the total amount of the sheath-core conjugate yarns): yarns containing side-by-side type fibers comprising (a) a modified polyester component copolymerized with isophthalic acid and 5-sodium sulfoisophthalic acid in amounts of 2-15 mol.% and <=5 mol.%, respectively, based on the total amount of the acid components and (b) a polyethylene terephthalate component. The sheath portions (40-85 wt.% based on the total amount of the sheath-core conjugate yarns): spun yarns containing modified polyester fibers copolymerized with <=5 mol.% of 5-sodium sulfoisophthalic acid.
