<p>The improved wind turbine (10) has a wind rotor (20) mounted on a motionless horizontal axle (28). The axle (28) is mounted in an end support (30) which freely rotates on a bearing (32) supported by a tower (34). The rotor (20) has a central hub (22), a rim (24) concentric with the hub (22), and a plurality of blades (26) disposed between the hub (22) and the rim (24). The turbine (10) includes a plurality of magnets (36) disposed on the rim (24) and a stator (38) in which an electrical impulse is induced by motion of the rotor (20). The improvement consists in a platform (42) on which the stator (38) is mounted, the platform (42) being supported by a cradle (40) depending from the axle (28). The cradle (40) leans on an annular, rotatable yaw ring (52) disposed about the tower (34), transferring the bending moment caused by the rotor (20) and stator (38) to the tower (34).</p> |
