PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat generator which achieves prevention of thermal and mechanical deterioration of viscous fluid. SOLUTION: A rotor 4 has a pulley portion 4a which protrudes from an inner housing 1 and in which torque from an engine is input, a supporting portion 4b which is formed integrally with the pulley portion 4a and supported between the pulley portion and the inner housing 1 by a bearing device 3, and a shearing portion 4c which shears silicone oil SO. In the shearing portion 4c, a storing chamber 6 which communicates with a heat chamber 5 and stores the silicone oil SO while avoiding a shearing action is formed. In the storing chamber 6, a static chamber 9 which is unaffected by centrifugal force by the rotation of the rotor 4 is formed by an outer housing 2. The static chamber 9 communicates with the storing chamber 6 through a supply hole 2c and a recovery hole 2d.
