PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and easily prevent mixing-in of foreign matters and deterioration at a low cost, by using a deposited polymerization film formed through a condensation-polymerization reaction, dry process not involving water, as a film acting as a hole transporting layer or a luminescent layer, or a layer functioning both as the two layers. SOLUTION: Diamino-carbazole, etc., and methylene-diphenyl disocyanate, etc., are vapor-deposited at the same time on a glass substrate provided with an ITO film as a positive electrode and then heat-treated to form a deposited polymerization film made of polyurea, and an Mg-Ag alloy, etc., is vapor- deposited thereon as a negative electrode. Thus, an organic EL element is obtained with the deposited polymerization film functioning both as a hole transporting layer and a luminescent layer. Luminescent color of the deposited polymerization film can be adjusted, when necessary, by dispersively incorporating a luminescence dye into it, or it can function as a hole transporting layer by further providing a luminescent layer on it. The organic EL element less liable to deterioration can be obtained by this dry process only.
