The portable house unit comprises plates and support frames (2). A first framework (1) encloses a first plate (P) and supports rotatably mounted support frames (2) whilst a second framework (3) enclosing the second plate is connectable to the support frames. Removable fasteners (4,5) detachably connect the first frame to the second when the support frames and second plate are folded onto the first plate. The first plate is a roof plate and the second plate a base plate.
