PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assembly method for a flat type display device in which assembly of a spacer is performed easily and reliably, and which lessens gas release and problems including internal discharge and discoloration after vacuum sealing, and which attains high quality. SOLUTION: This assembling method is for a flat type display device having an anode glass substrate 14 as a fluorescent character display surface and a cathode glass substrate which is opposed to the fluorescent character display surface to emit electrons. A spacer 12 which supports both of the glass substrates 14 is fused to the glass substrates 14 with a glass frit by using a laser 6.
