HEAT-SHIELDING COATING AND ITS COATING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heat-shielding coating having excellent reflection characteristics in the near IR light region and capable of preventing the rise in the temperature of coating films, even when the coating is a black or dark color coating, by adding a specific pigment and a vehicle having excellent weather resistance. SOLUTION: This heat-shielding coating contains (A) a pigment capable of absorbing light in the visible light region but reflecting light in the near IR light region and (B) a vehicle having excellent weather resistance (preferably an acrylic resin or the like). The component A is a pigment having a solar light reflection factor of >=15% defined by JIS A 5759 and a L' value of <=24 in a CIE 1976 L'a'b' color space, and is contained in an amount of 7-110 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the resin solid content of the coating. It is preferable that the coating contains at least one of colored pigments having solar light reflection factors of >=12% defined by JIS A 5759 and, if necessary, a white pigment in addition to the above pigment.
