PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for highly accurately measuring a temperature distribution inside steel. SOLUTION: Velocity of ultrasonic waves at each temperature in a FCC region is stored in a first ultrasonic dependent storage means 2, and velocity of ultrasonic waves at each temperature in a BCC region is stored in a second ultrasonic dependent storage means 3, respectively, and they are inputted to a center temperature calculation means 8. A transformation rate estimation means 4, a surface temperature estimation means 5, a thickness measurement means 6 and an ultrasonic wave measurement means 7 are used to obtain a transformation rate, a surface temperature, a thickness and reciprocation time of ultrasonic waves of a specimen 1, respectively, and inputted to the center temperature calculation means 8. The center temperature calculation means 8 solves an equation using the values to obtain a center temperature of the specimen 1 and estimate a temperature inside the specimen 1. A temperature distribution display means 9 displays a temperature distribution which has been obtained.
