ACQUIRING METHOD FOR NAVIGATION POSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a hand scanner have a high-degree correspondence between an original image and a scanning result by deciding the displacement of reference features which are contained in a reference frame and a sample frame based on correlation data. SOLUTION: An image forming sensor array 22 is provided on the front side 18 of a scanner 10 and navigation sensors 24 and 26 are arranged at both ends of the array 22. Then, a sample frame is acquired in a continuous image via the array 22 by using one or both of sensors 24 and 26. The correlation data are generated to show the relation between the sample frame and a reference frame. The displacement of reference features contained in both sample and reference frames are decided at the position in the direction of the array 22 and along an original 14 based on the said correlation data.
