PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of realizing accurate dimming control in a short time. SOLUTION: This camera is equipped with an image pickup means S1 performing the image pickup of a photographing area and outputting image processing information, an object area information output means S2 detecting a main object area occupied by a main object on an image plane and a background area occupied by a background on the image plane based on the image processing information and outputting main object area information and background area information concerning the main object area and the background area detected, a dimming correction value calculation means S3 calculating a dimming correction value based on the main subject area information and the background area information, and a dimming control means S4 controlling flash light quantity at the time of flash photographing according to the dimming correction value. |
