A transducer measures the diagonal strain in a square box, the corners of which are attached to mounting fixtures by solid links. The transducer may consist of strain gauges arranged on both sides of the base of the box. Circuitry may be provided inside the box for evaluating the measurement signals. An Independent claim is included for a device incorporating the sensor.
