PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life X-ray detector which is compact in the cross direction of a slit X-ray when used in the detection of the X-ray. SOLUTION: This X-ray detector is a proportional counter tube adapted to detect X-rays and including a slender window 3 through which the X-ray 1 is made to impinge, a conductor 4 extending in the longitudinal direction of the window 3 to form an anode, a case 6 insulating and enclosing the conductor 4 to form a cathode, and support members 10A, 10B whereby both ends of the conductor 4 are supported at ends 10Aa, 10Ba extending in the advancing direction A of the X-ray 1.
