PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide diagnostic data from a device to a remote host even in the power source off state of an image forming device. SOLUTION: The image forming device is provided with plural control boards 102, 104, 106 and 108 including a user interface control board 108 having a power source and a modem. This method is composed of respective steps for collecting the diagnostic data into the memory of the user interface control board 108 during the operation of the device (this control board successively controls the ON/OFF of a power source concerning the other control board) (1), maintaining the power of the user interface control board 108 in the power source off state of the device (2), recognizing a request for transmitting the diagnostic data to the remote host in the power source off state of the device (3) and transmitting the diagnostic data to the remote host by activating the modem in response to the request (4). |
