The component has at least one optical input (26) which can be connected to at least one optical transmitter (28), at least one optical output (32) which can be connected to at least one optical receiver (34) and at least one connection (20) connection, which can be connected to an optical communications network (22). Optical transmission paths within the component are formed by light conductors structured within glass layers (14,18). The transmitter(s) and receiver(s) are operated in wavelength multiplex mode. The component can be programmed to at least one transmission wavelength of the transmitter and at least one reception wavelength of the receiver. An Independent claim is also included for a method of producing an optical transmitter-receiver component.
