The transporting device consists of two transporting rails on a pallet at the wheel gauge of the car, with two end pieces to receive and support the wheels of the car. Each transporting rail (1) has two spaced-out apertures (6) in its central region, running transversely and horizontally, into which the fork of a lift truck can be inserted. Each aperture may be at least partly bounded by a shaped piece (4) inserted in the transporting rail. The shaped piece may be of U-shaped cross section, reinforced with a plate (5).
