The fishing reel has a line release device adjustable by a brake ring (11) mounted behind the rotor (5) and in active connection with the brake device by transmission gearing (15,16) such as a gearwheel disc. Several gearwheels engaging on an axially mounted gearwheel can be connected to several brake cylinders (17) by shafts. The brake force of one or more brake cylinders can be controlled independently of the remaining brake cylinders.
