Brake control system for vehicle

A brake control system for a vehicle has wheel speed sensors (41-44) and a sensor for monitoring the linear retardation (1) of the vehicle. The ABS brake control system is modified to adapt to the road grip and the system monitors the change in retardation w.r.t. the variation in road grip to differentiate between paved and unpaved roads. This enables the brake control to be adapted to the type of road surface.
