The silencer for an internal combustion motor, especially at the air intake, has a resonator chamber (10) as a Helmholtz resonator linked to the gas/air pipe (7) by tubes (11,12) or tube groups. The tubes remain open, or cannot be closed, and have different length and cross section dimensions between them to give an acoustic damping in a given wide frequency range.
