Absorbent web of compressed pulp fibres with high absorption and teat strength

Absorbent fiber web (100) has a high content of compressed pulp fibers (1), which are pressed together by embossing in a dot or line pattern and fused by using high embossing pressure, without adhesives and/or binders. The web has embossed dots with a density of 1-16/cm<2>, a top area of 0.05-10 mm<2> and a depth of 0.1-1 mm. The dots are square or have the shape of a pyramid or truncated cone, especially making an angle of 10-45 deg to the surface.
