A pull-open closure for the lid of a can of beverage comprises a closure member (124) having a stopper (126) configured to fit into an ovoidal hole (120) of the lid (112). The stopper (126) includes a metal lever (128) provided with a hole to assist with opening, the stopper (126) being reclosable in the hole (120), which has a rounded rim (122). Also included is a foil portion adhesively fixed to the stopper (126), which is torn around the rim (122) of the hole as the stopper is first removed. The stopper (126) is made of polyethylene terephthalate, and the foil portion has an upper layer of polyethylene bonded to a lower layer of annealed aluminium.
