The apparatus consists of a control unit to control its operation, memory, a sample field, an indicator unit and a card reader. A chip card is read, which has, recorded on it, user identification data for authorization in the telephone network. Data can be stored on at least one second chip card of another type and data can be read from the second card and stored in memory. The data of the second chip card can be redirected directly to a data apparatus using a transceiver.
