<p>A method is provided for on-line monitoring of the wear of a refractory lining of a blast furnace. The method includes determining the wear line of the lining from signals provided by temperature probes located in groups, e.g., group (10, 12, 14), group (16, 18, 20), group (22, 24, 26), embedded at spaced locations across the thickness of the refractory lining. Other methods disclosed include: a method of determining the thickness of a protective layer of solidified metal skull formed on the refractory hearth, a method of determining the conditions of heat transfer between a refractory lining and a metal shell of a blast furnace and between the metal shell and cooling water applied to the shell, and a method of extending the life of refractory lining.</p> |
