PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muffler having a function for treating nitrogen oxides. SOLUTION: A muffler is provided with a muffler duct part for muffling exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine, and the muffler duct part is provided with a duct 21 into which exhaust gas is allowed to flow. The duct 21 is provided with a ultraviolet lamp 211 and a sound absorbing material 213, and an exhaust passage 215 is formed in the center part of the sound absorbing material 213. The sound absorbing material 213 is constituted by supporting titanium dioxide and activated carbon on a sound absorbing material. Exhaust gas is muffled by the sound absorbing material 213, and nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas is treated by photodenitraction process using titanium dioxide. |
