Rapid homogeneity check of powdered mixtures

The homogeneity of a mixture of powders is checked by addition of tracer particles of a similar size to the main component of the mixture. These added particles are of a different color to other particles in the mixture. A known concentration of tracer particles is added, so, the homogeneity of the mixture can be estimated by counting the tracers in a sample. Use of different colored tracers in different mixtures allows cross contamination to be easily spotted.
