The method involves using a wheel speed sensor (31) to produce signals proportional to each wheel speed and an electronic control unit (30). The wheel speed is computed on the basis of each signal from the wheel speed sensors. The rise or the fall of each signal pulse of a pulse signal of the sensor is counted, if the wheel speed is higher than a set value. In addition, the rise and fall of each pulse of the sensor pulse signal is counted, if the wheel speed is lower than a set value. The counted values are set in relation to a time, elapsing for the measuring of the count values.
