<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To abandon abnormal traffic by flexibly dealing with the capacity fluctuation of a cell buffer storage device as a whole device by composing the device of a 1st shaping means for serial connection having no cell abandoning function and a 2nd shaping means having the cell abandoning function. SOLUTION: Three shaping parts 10, 20 and 30 with no cell abandonment are serially connected and a shaping part 40 with cell abandonment is connected to its rear stage. When the total sum of queue lengths with channel numbers related to input cells is more than the capacity of a shared memory, the respective shaping parts 10, 20 and 30 without cell abandonment store the input cell arriving at a FIFO memory corresponding to that channel number and forcedly output the oldest cell of that channel number without shaping. When the total sum of queue lengths with the channel number corresponding to the input cell is more than the capacity of the shared memory, the shaping part 40 with cell abandonment abandons the arriving cell and does not store it in the shared memory.</p> |
