PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable route search for returning a vehicle to a guidance route, so as to shorten the traveling distance as far as an destination by using a revised link cost function and calculating the route from the present position to the destination or a return point. SOLUTION: By setting a node wherein the sum of correction distances obtained by a specified formula is minimum, as a return point, the point is determined in such a manner wherein the rectilinear distance is more weighted than the distance along the course. For example, a vehicle travels on a guidance route NVRT and makes off-route at a point CP. Route search is started at once, in the case that the automatic route search mode is on. In the case of its being off, the route search is started when it is commanded. In this route search, a navigation equipment determines the node B as a return point, and searches a route RT from an A point to the B point. As a result, the vehicle can be guided along the route RT wherein the traveling distance as far as the destination is short. |
