PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a transformant plant luminescence sufficiently observable with the naked eye, suitable for appreciation in a dark place, by transducing a luciferase gene to a cell of a plant belonging to the family Caryophyllaceae and regenerating a plant body. SOLUTION: A luciferase gene which is effective in a plant cell and is under control of a cauliflower mosaic virus 35S promoter effectively connected to an enhancer sequence in which the enhancer sequence is a sequence derived from a cauliflower mosaic virus, a sequence derived from a tobacco mosaic virus or their combination is transduced into a cell of a plant such as carnation belonging to the family Caryophyllaceae. A plant body is regenerated from the gene into which the luciferase gene is transduced to give a transformant plant for expressing luciferase. Preferably. luciferin is supplied to the transformant plant to make the transformant plant luminous. |
